Navigate Miami Map

Navigate Miami was a project made in collaboration with the Miami Dade Beacon Council, Watsco Ventures, and Code For Miami. For this project, we made a map of Miami's tech scene.

Built chiefly with Vue, Firebase, and Leaflet, this open source project organizes 8 different categories of Miami's startup ecosystem including accelerators, coworking spaces, and funding organizations, making it easier to for entrepreneurs, investors, and anyone else in the space to literally navigate the space.

How We Built It

My boss came to me one day with the idea of building a map for Miami's startup ecosystem. He was already in conversation with the Miami Dade Beacon Council about it, and they had a sizeable enough dataset for us to start with.

I used Vue and Vuetify for its powerful and easy-to-use UI components, Leaflet's open source mapping solution, and Firebase as the realtime database so that changes made on the editor would reflect immediately on the map for any user actively viewing the map. It took about a month to put everything together, after which Code for Miami took over its hosting and maintenance.

And that's it! The project for me was short-lived, fun, and built to help make Miami a better place. Literally, my favorite kind of work 😃
